* John is working on a project abroad until March 2015.
John works with a listening practice, tuning in to the environment around us as well as the movement within: the stream of thoughts and images of the mind and the sensations within the body that we rarely give focused attention to. By cultivating this awareness, we can begin to recognise patterns and connections, and eventually recognize that these thoughts, feelings and perceptions are not as they seem – that with further inspection, they change form or disappear altogether, opening up space to sense and feel with more clarity, less negativity and judgment, and ultimately a more balanced and peaceful outlook.
Techniques used in the class draw from John’s experience with a range of meditative practices and self-inquiry modalities: mindfulness of breathing and pranayama, focused visualisation, intuitive movement practice and also some work with sound.
