5-day yoga forest retreat in the ancient Odenwald along the Nibelungen hiking trail with Anya Kinneavy, Julia Aheimer and Liina Tael

Enjoy a spring weekend with us on a 5-day/4-night retreat at our yellow yoga retreat location Gebhardshütte in the deep forest of Odenwald, about 1 hour from Heidelberg. You are accompanied by 3 of our regular yellow yoga teachers, Anya, Julia and Liina, who will lovingly support you with their experience and hold various vinyasa, somatics, yin and restorative yoga classes each day. Besides yoga, the forest retreats have many other wonderful things on offer: breathing exercises (pranayama) and meditation, sound journeys and massages, talking and singing circles, sauna and campfires!

Retreat time is a time for transformation and (self-)healing, a time to recharge your batteries, a time for yourself – and a time together, in a wonderful community.

We are looking forward to welcoming you!

About the yellow yoga Gebhardshütte
In the middle of the Odenwald – near the Nibelungensteig – Claudia, the founder of yellow yoga, came across the beautiful Gebhardshütte together with her family a few years ago. Until then, the Gebhardshütte had been a hostel for pilgrims and hikers. Slowly but steadily, over the last 4 years, it has been growing into a cozy retreat center. The Gebhardshütte is deeply hidden in the forest, far away from the noises and chaos of the city. It has a beautiful and large garden, a spacious farm kitchen with a guest room for 28 people, many quiet spaces, several balconies, lovingly designed rooms and a small meditation room for up to 16 yogis. The décor, with its vintage furniture, is simple yet tasteful, authentic yet familiar. The place was maybe not created with a lot of money, but instead with a lot of care and love for our yellow yoga community. Our yoga forest vacations are community retreats and thus follow the principles of karma yoga, i.e. we cook together and everyone helps out. In this way, we can offer each and every one of you a longer and deeper retreat experience even on a low budget.

Theme
Rooted in Presence – Yoga as a path to befriend the mind and revitalise the body
As nature awakens from its winter slumber, we too are invited to unfurl gently and slowly with presence. In the soft emergence of spring, there is a wisdom in not rushing, in allowing ourselves to root deeply before we rise. This retreat offers a balanced blend of slower, contemplative practices and dynamic, somatic movement, creating space for both stillness and vitality.
This retreat is a space to slow down, listen inward, and embrace the unfolding of each moment. Through yoga, breath, meditation and somatic practices, we will cultivate a deep inner sanctuary— where we can meet our thoughts with curiosity rather than control, and learn to find steadiness amidst change. In both movement and rest, we will attune to the intelligence of the body, cultivating a practice that is both grounding and expansive.
Spring reminds us that renewal and growth does not need to come from force. When we build trust – trust in the rhythms of life, trust in the intelligence of the body, trust in the quiet unfolding of presence itself – we begin to move through the world with greater ease, meeting each moment with openness rather than resistance. As we move through gentle somatic flows, embodied stillness of yin yoga and meditative inquiry, we will explore what it means to truly be home in ourselves. This retreat is an invitation to soften into awareness, root into the now, and let presence bloom from within.
Beyond the physical, this retreat will weave in the deeper roots of yoga—its history, philosophy, and essence as a path of connection. Through guided discussions and reflective inquiry, we will explore yoga beyond the mat, tracing its origins and wisdom traditions to better understand how it can support our lives today. In honoring yoga’s past, we deepen our experience of it in the present, rooting ourselves in both knowledge and embodied awareness. Whether in the quiet of meditation or the rhythm of flowing movement, this retreat is an invitation to slow down, listen deeply, and awaken to the richness of being.

yellow yoga is a non-profit project and we do our best to offer the lowest price possible and we rely on the commitment of all participants. Reserving your space is binding and the amount paid cannot be refunded in case of non-participation or cancellation of the course. However, the place can be transferred to another person if the participant is prevented from attending. The participant would then have to arrange this themselves and provide us with the contact details of the other person by email. For this type of cancellation/replacement, yellow yoga charges a processing fee of 20€. This option is only possible up to 7 days before the retreat (replacements on such short notice mean a lot of re-organisation of transport, invoices, accommodation, etc.).

Please note that the retreats will only take place if there are at least 8 participants. If there are more than 12 participants, there will be 2 groups, i.e. 2 classes in the morning and 2 classes in the evening.
